Imran Khan & Partners Secures Withdrawal of RBKC Injunction Proceedings Against Resident Supporting Grenfell-Affected Community

Imran Khan & Partners successfully represented Mr Leighton Evans in his defence against an application for a wide-ranging injunction brought by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC).
A long-standing local resident and elected member of the Lancaster West Residents’ Association, Mr Evans actively advocates for residents in his community, including those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.
Amid increased and vocal community concerns expressed over RBKC's governance and service conditions, RBKC served Mr Evans with an injunction alleging anti-social behaviour and harassment. Mr Evans strongly denies these allegations and has asserted that the proceedings are an attempt to silence legitimate criticism.
Imran Khan & Partners repeatedly invited RBKC to engage in mediation or withdraw proceedings, given the weakness of the application. However, the local authority failed to properly respond.
The day before a listed trial, RBKC sought permission to withdraw proceedings. The Court discharged the undertaking, discontinued the case and ordered RBKC to pay Mr Evans’s legal costs, while noting the local authority's failure to engage in dispute resolution earlier and more constructively.
Imran Khan & Partners remains proud to defend individuals exercising their lawful right to challenge public bodies.
Mr Evans instructed Daniel Cooper, Partner, and Queenie Sit, Paralegal, alongside Hannah Webb of 1 Pump Court.
