IKP act for Charity in discrimination complaint

Updated: Apr 12, 2020

Daniel Cooper, Solicitor, acts for the Traveller Movement charity in an action for discrimination against the Metropolitan Police Service.

Yvonne MacNamara of the Traveller Movement charity said “The Traveller Movement are deeply concerned that yet again we see this blatant discrimination from the police. We have previously raised concerns with the Metropolitan police and referred these complaints to the Independent Police Complaint Commission which were upheld. Racial profiling is without question an issue and has formally been raised with officials nationally by the Traveller Movement and The Gypsy Roma Traveller Police association over the years. Unfortunately we are not seeing the redress or systematic policy changes that are urgently needed to prevent this dangerous broad brush policing approach towards these communities. “
