Ben Bansal secured an acquittal for a Defendant charged with Assault on an Emergency Worker after QPR v Birmingham City Football Match at Loftus Road in 2024.

The complainant police officer, had alleged the Defendant had assaulted him outside of Loftus Road after a disturbance post game. In stern cross examination by Mr Bansal, the Officer accepted he had acted outside of his duty by pushing the defendant’s father who was acting as a peacemaker and having seen this, the Defendant was acting reasonably in approaching the officer. The officer accepted taking the Defendant down to the ground and acting heavy handed. He accepted any injury caused was as a result of his own actions rather than anything deliberate by the Defendant. Â
