Imran Khan and Partners have been instructed to represent six prisoners who have begun a hunger strike in protest at their continued detention under charges connected to actions for Palestinian liberation.
The prisoners, who are taking action from within the UK prison estate, are supported by Prisoners for Palestine, a collective representing individuals detained under legislation increasingly used against Palestine solidarity activists.
Their protest forms part of wider concerns raised by legal experts, human rights organisations, and parliamentarians about the use of counter terrorism powers and extended remand periods in cases linked to Palestinian liberation. These issues were highlighted recently by Jeremy Corbyn MP in correspondence to the Secretary of State for Justice, in which he expressed urgency regarding the treatment and prolonged detention of political prisoners.
