Imran Khan KC Joins Families in Defence of Human Rights Protections

Imran Khan KC, lawyer for the family of Stephen Lawrence, has joined victims of major institutional injustices, including Grenfell, Hillsborough, Windrush, and the infected blood scandals, in opposing calls for the UK to withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
In a joint letter, campaigners described the ECHR as “more vital than ever,” warning that to weaken or abandon it would be a betrayal of those who have relied on its protections to uncover state failings and secure accountability.
The letter was also signed by groups such as Grenfell United, Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice, the Tainted Blood Campaign, Justice4Windrush and Elkan Abrahamson.
