CPS Announce rare prosecution following prisoner death

Imran Khan and Partners act for the family of Mesut Olgun who tragically died in HMP Hewell in June 2018.

Following an extensive and lengthy investigation by the police and CPS, it has been announced that a prosecution will be brought against a prison officer for Gross Negligence Manslaughter and Misconduct in Public Office in respect of Mesut’s death.

The decision was welcomed by Mesut’s family given that it is rare for the prosecuting authorities to take such action for a death in prison. They ask for privacy at this sensitive and difficult time.

The Family are represented by Daniel Lemberger Cooper and Sila Akin of Imran Khan and Partners, who can be contacted on 0207 404 3004 or silaa@ikpsolicitors.com
