After 18 years of campaigning for justice, Doreen Lawrence, represented by Imran Khan, saw Gary Dobson and David Norris being sentenced to detention at her majesty’s pleasure with recommended minimum life terms of 15 and 14 years after having been found guilty of Stephen’s murder. In what is considered a landmark case that changed the rules on murder trials, the jury at the Old Bailey decided that the two men were involved in the fatal stabbing on the 22nd April 1993.
