The firm

The three partners began their careers as community rights activists, working in the London area, focusing on race discrimination, policing and domestic violence issues.

The practice was established in 2000 and offered a new approach to legal representation with the idea that the firm would pursue what it termed ‘impact cases’. The outcome of these cases would lead to legal and social change.

True to its word, the firm has represented clients in public inquiries, inquests and appeal cases whose impact has reverberated through the criminal justice and social system.

The senior partner, Imran Khan, is one of the best-known human rights and criminal lawyers in the UK. His work representing the parents of Stephen Lawrence, who was stabbed to death in 1993, brought him to national and international attention and led to the establishment of the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry.

His later representation of the families of Victoria Climbie and Zahid Mubarek, and the public inquiries into their deaths, led to substantial social change regarding the care of children and prisoners in the UK.

Imran Khan has lectured nationally and internationally on human rights and criminal law and written extensively on the subject.
